Panelly Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
Panelly is a comic and manga reader that works on your device. The developer does not collect any personal data from you. Two optional features use a network, and are described below: looking up a word on Wiktionary or Wikipedia, and sharing a comic over Wi‑Fi.
Your comics
The comics, manga and books you import or open are stored on your device, in Panelly’s own app container. They are not uploaded anywhere. You can delete them in the app at any time, or by deleting the app.
Text recognition and translation
Panelly reads the lettering in speech bubbles with Apple’s on-device text recognition. Translations use Apple’s Translation framework, which runs on your device. The first time you translate into a language, iOS may download that language from Apple; this is handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy and contains none of your comics.
Speech
Read-aloud uses the system voices installed on your device. No audio leaves your device.
Looking up words
By default a word you tap is looked up in the dictionaries on your device, and nothing leaves it.
If you choose Wiktionary or Wikipedia as the source, Panelly sends that word, and its dictionary form, to that site (wiktionary.org or wikipedia.org, run by the Wikimedia Foundation) to fetch its entry. Nothing else is sent: not the bubble, the page or the comic. Wikimedia handles the request under its own privacy policy.
Sharing over Wi‑Fi
On iPhone and iPad you can share up to three comics with a browser on the same Wi‑Fi network. While sharing is on, Panelly serves those comics directly from your device to that network; they are not uploaded to the internet or to the developer. The address includes a random code, so only someone you give it to can open it. Sharing stops when you stop it or leave the app.
iOS asks your permission before Panelly can use the local network. A browser that opens the share can ask for bubbles to be translated; the translation runs on your device.
Reading progress and settings
Your reading position, bookmarks and notes, collections and settings are stored on your device only.
No accounts, ads or tracking
Panelly has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. The developer does not collect, receive or share any personal data. When you share a comic with the system share sheet, you choose where it goes.
Children
Panelly does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
